Ferroelectric control of a spin-polarized two-dimensional electron gas

چکیده

Spin-polarized two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at oxide interfaces is an emerging physical phenomenon, which technologically important for potential device applications. However, most previous relevant studies only focused on the creation and characterization of spin-polarized 2DEG. To push forward applications, control 2DEG by electric field step. Here, a model system based antiferromagnetic ferroelectric perovskites, i.e., YTiO3/PbTiO3 superlattice, designed to manipulate By switching direction polarization, can be effectively tuned both symmetric asymmetric polar interfaces.

Spin-polarized two-dimensional electron gas at oxide interfaces.

The possibility of formation of a fully spin-polarized 2D electron gas at the SrMnO_3/(LaMnO_3)_1/SrMnO_3 heterostructure is predicted from density-functional calculations. The La(d) electrons become confined in the direction normal to the interface in the electrostatic potential well of the positively charged layer of La atoms, acting as electron donors. These electrons mediate a ferromagnetic...

Hartree-Fock energy of a density wave in a spin polarized two-dimensional electron gas

We calculate the Hartree-Fock energy of a density-wave in a spin polarized twodimensional electron gas using a short-range repulsive interaction. We find that the stable ground state for a short-range potential is always either the paramagnetic state or the uniform ferromagnetic state. The energy of a density-wave state is, however, reduced by a factor proportional to (1 − ζ), where ζ is the po...

Long-wavelength collective excitations in a two-dimensional spin-polarized electron gas: A phenomenological theory

The dispersion relations of the collective excitations induced in a 2D spin-polarized electron gas are derived within the framework of the Landau-Silin theory applied to a two-component Fermi liquid. The quasiparticle interaction is described by spin-dependent coefficients, which are parametric functions of the initial degree of polarization. The motion of the low-energy excitations satisfies a...
